Augmenting Public Service Capacity
as the Lever of Development Change
As a young but huge country, the role of government in India is constantly evolving. We are a complex
country with many layers of government – from villages, panchayats, sub-districts, districts, states and
federal authorities. So the state-citizen engagement is mediated through a myriad of local politicians,
political parties, government officials and local citizens.
The efficiency of government-led development services is critical for building a society based on equity and
fairness. But fragmented design and action often impede execution of well-meaning program. The
absence of systematic analysis prior to design and delivery of public program also makes them ineffective.
In places where the government is the most critical driver of bringing
transformative change, TRIF focuses on getting the most vulnerable communities
out of poverty through integrating various stakeholders and development
program.
