Village Square

Last year the three inter-related engagement pillars of Village Square, were pivoted and deepened
bringing together to the mixed-media storytelling platform; active youth outreach and community
engagement through Youth Hub offering young Internships and engaging conversations through the
Bharat Youth Dialogues; a new unit Development Intelligence Unit was set up with aim to integrate data,
evidence, and insights to drive efficient and effective delivery of development across public-private-people
sectors.

The Village Square team was revamped and expanded, the “new look” website and social media platforms
has a contemporary and more engaging content. New strands like Her Life and Photo Vibes have been
introduced and coverage expanded with a new tone and tenor aimed at attracting young urban audience.
Photography competition “Rural India Through Your Lens” launched in partnership with Delhi Photography
Club brought ready attention of wide range of stakeholders helping connect with urban India. Receiving
over 2,500 entries, these photographs captured the vibrancy of village life and took viewers beyond the
cliche, put on exhibit at New Delhi’s Habitat Centre the artful, insightful and quirky photos presented an
engaged aspirational rural.

Village Square has become livelier and more vibrant
with interviews, insta-lives, and photo-essays providing
a complete and engaging package to urban India.

Her Life showcases India’s women changemakers
navigating their way through a changing world and
making impactful interventions in their respective
domains. Using audio, video, photos and text, women Transforming Rural India Foundation ANNUAL REPORT 2021-22
share their successes and hopes on Her Life, but also
their failures and fears. It’s her life – in her own words.

The second new section, is Field Journal featuring
notes and reflections of development professionals
providing inside-out perspectives and reflection on
India’s villages.

Village Vibe celebrates the art, culture, and festivals of India’s village life. The stories in this segment
represent the diversity and colours of India's rural life.
