Cervical Cancer Screening Training
Three days of training on Cervical Cancer screening by Visual Inspection using Acetic Acid (VIA) was
conducted for Medical Officers and Nursing staff of District Hospital, Ranchi from 3rd to 5th March 2022
focusing on Importance of cervical cancer screening, Pathogenesis of cervical cancer, Screening by visual
inspection using acetic acid (VIA), Management of VIA-positive women, Counselling: Pre-screening,
post-screening counseling. The second and third days of training were clinical sessions with a
demonstration of the procedure of VIA by trainers and practice by trainees. 15 participants from the NCD
cell and Gynecology Dept. were part of the training program. The trainees are being followed up for
initiating Cervical cancer screening by VIA at DH, Ranchi. Followed by three days of Training of Trainers on
Cervical Cancer Screening by VIA, of all 24 Districts of Jharkhand in two batches from 10th – 12th March
and 14th – 16th March 2022 supported by State.
Development of IEC/ BCC Plan and Checklists for Cervical Cancer Screening
IEC material (Poster and pamphlet) regarding Cervical cancer- causes, signs symptoms, prevention,
and treatment were developed.
The facility assessment checklist for Cervical cancer screening was developed and shared with
NCD and MH Cell.
