The year 2023 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Millets and therefore the Government of India is constantly making efforts to make people aware about it.
The unique Millet Cafe opened in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh is surprising people. It is not less than any standard restaurant. But the most interesting thing here is the menu here. The menu of this cafe is such dishes which are not only tasty and unique but are also good for your and our health. The specialty of this cafe is that all the dishes here are made from coarse grains like millet, ragi etc. Raigad district administration started it in May last year. So that the “Bajra Mission” initiative of the state government can be promoted and people can know about millets. The United Nations has declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets. Chhattisgarh, often called the ‘Rice Bowl’, aims to become the millets center of the country.
Collector took the initiative
According to The New Indian Express, an officer named Bhim Singh took the initiative. At that time Singh was the collector of Raigad. He says that millets are highly nutritious but they are overlooked and neglected. Singh, in collaboration with the Transforming Rural India Foundation, worked to increase the production, procurement and consumption of millets, especially ragi. Rohini Patnaik, the head of the cafe’s operations, says that with this cafe, they are not only becoming self-sufficient but also providing healthy food to the people. Foodies relish the popular dishes like Millets Cheela, Dosa, Millets Momos, Millets Pizza, Millets Manchurian and Kodo Biryani.
