There was a special mention of Chhattisgarh in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat on Sunday. This has come in the context of a conversation related to the production and development of millet. Prime Minister Modi told the audience, when you get a chance to visit Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, do visit Millet Cafe and enjoy the cuisine there. Pasta made from Ragi, Chilla, Idli, Manchurian, Momos, Pizza, Noodle, Dosa, Biryani made from Kodo can be tasted in this cafe.
The millet cafe mentioned by Prime Minister Modi is running near Natwar School in Raigarh. It was started by the then Collector Bhim Singh in May 2022. This is Chhattisgarh’s first Millet Cafe. Delicious dishes made of millets like Ragi, Kodo, Kutki are served here. In which there is a jugalbandi of health with taste. The responsibility of its operation is completely in the hands of women. Women belonging to Vikas Sangh Mahila Sangh are running this cafe. Technical cooperation in this is being given by the Women and Child Development Department and the Transforming Rural India Foundation.
For the first time in Chhattisgarh, millets based cafes were started for women groups to promote women self-employment and entrepreneurship. Later, gradually many such millets cafes are opening across the state. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, the area of millet has also increased here, production has also increased. The whole program is ready for that. Millet Cafe has also started here. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had also given a feast of Millets dishes to the Ministers-MLAs during the winter session of the Vidhansabha. In that feast only dishes made of Kodo-Kutki, Ragi etc. were served.
Mann Ki Baat at 18500 places in Chhattisgarh

Millets Mission in 14 districts of the state
Millet Mission has been started in Chhattisgarh to increase the production of coarse grains and small grain crops like Ragi, Kodo, Kutki, make good arrangements for their purchase and processing and reach the city markets. 14 districts of the state have been included in this mission. For this, an agreement has been signed with the Indian Institute of Millet Research, Hyderabad. Under this, Indian Institute of Millet Research is providing technical know-how, availability of high quality seeds and cooperation and guidance for establishment of seed bank.
Processing plants are also being set up in Gothans
In Chhattisgarh, not only the support price of Kodo, Kutki and Ragi has been declared, but it is also being procured at the support price. With this initiative, the area under millets in Chhattisgarh has increased one and a half times and production has also increased. The biggest processing plant of millets has also been set up at Nathia-Navagaon in Kanker district. To promote millets, millets processing plants are being set up in the Rural Industrial Park being developed in Gothan.

Country’s largest processing unit in Kanker district
A plan has been prepared from production to collection, processing and marketing in the state. To promote the cultivation of millets, the country’s largest processing unit has also been set up in Kanker district. Apart from this, outlets have also been started for the sale of the product.
