Dr. Yogesh Kumar
Member and Adviser to Different committees of National and State levels and Governing Body member in well-known development organisations. With more than 25 Years of experience in the development sector, Dr. Yogesh Kumar is a professional with an international reputation on the issue of “participatory governance and development”. A well-known development economist and thought leader on the subject of participatory governance he served in advisory positions to many National and International forums and well-known CSOs. Dr Kumar has PhD in Development Studies and has also been an ICSSR Doctoral Fellow in Development Economics. He is a founder member and Executive Director of “Samarthan – Centre for Development Support” working in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. He has written many articles, and papers on Governance, Transparency, and Social Security and provided far-sighted scenarios for the strengthening of ‘governance and participatory planning’ in the country. Dr Kumar has active engagement in local governance, and accountability discourses with expertise in participatory planning, and social audits, and has also facilitated the emergence of a network of elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions in Madhya Pradesh. His contribution to strengthening capacities and institutional mechanisms of voluntary development organisations has been widely recognised.
